| I was born in Colombia and grew up on a coffee farm. As a child, I was an avid soccer player until the age of 14, when I received my first bike. I started racing both road and track and soon had success, becoming the junior national champion in both disciplines. After graduating high school, I moved to Spain where I raced locally for several years until moving to Florida and then New York City in 2002, where I now reside. Not only has cycling as a sport been my passion, it has also contributed to the development of my other interests including travel, architecture and cuisine. I have been fortunate enough to have raced extensively in Europe, South America, Central America and Asia. During my leisure time in the various countries, I was always anxious to explore and absorb as much of the culture as I could. I have fond memories and keepsakes from every place i've been. In a way, I credit cycling as an institute of higher learning , providing me with experiences I may not otherwise have been privileged to have. |
